CHRONICLES OF DEEP WATER
CHRONICLES OF DEEP WATER
It started in November 2007. Awakening from a vivid dream. A stirring in our hearts that changes were coming. The Lord brining the same passage of Scripture from Luke, chapter 5 to our minds time and time again.
“Put out into the deep water.” “I will make you fishers of men.”
We simply waited, worked and wondered. Then as clear as the day was when we took the above picture - the Lord called. A clarion call to trust Him more and point our lives toward “deep water.”
During the summer of 2008, the Elders of our church invited us to join the pastoral staff of o Mosaic Church of Central Arkansas. Mosaic is a new movement with an ancient charter - to seek God and make Christ known through the pursuit of unity in a multi-ethnic, economically diverse church community.
Two years ago, Dana and I joined this church sensing a great burden to engage around the evangelism opportunities the church is creating. It’s very existence has created a natural curiosity that is drawing people to God. Our hearts have continued to enlarge around how God is using this movement to bring Him glory and call lost people to faith.
We’re excited to report that in September 2008, I became Mosaic's Pastor of Ministry Development. The purpose of my position is to help those called to minister there, both staff and lay leadership, to be more effective and strategic at fulfilling the strategic mission of the church. In time, I will also assist in marriage and family counseling for the church.
As an economically-diverse church meeting in an abandoned Wal-Mart in the highest violent crime rate, highest poverty rate zip code in the city, many of Mosaic’s staff are required to raise a portion of their salary. So we continue to seek God’s provision through God’s people to partner with us in our new assignment.
One of the hardest things about this change was to step aside to watch what the Lord will do at FamilyLife. After a 11 year career there, we have so much personal satisfaction and delight in this amazing organization. The foundation has been laid and we leave a highly competent and capable team in place to carry on the mission. For that, we give glory to God!
An exciting aspect to our work at FamilyLife is that we will remain “Affiliate” staff with Campus Crusade and work specifically on FamilyLife’s “Every Home” Advisory Board - an intentional advisory group created to assist FamilyLife in “translating” it’s outreaches and content to truly be multi-ethnic!
The apostles said to the Lord, "Increase our faith!”
